Fundamental Limit to Delay-Bandwidth Product in One-Dimensional Linear Optical Structures

Abstract

This delay-bandwidth product is shown to be bounded essentially by the maximum available relative dielectric constant times the length of the structure in wavelengths, and is otherwise independent of structure design and dielectric constant spectrum.
