Slow and stored light manipulations at high atomic densities

Abstract

We present analysis of pulse propagation dynamics under the electromagnetically induced transparency conditions. We demonstrate optimal storage of an optical pulse of arbitrary shape, and discuss the mechanisms limiting the efficiency at high optical depths.
