Abstract

In the quest for a high power semiconductor laser, considerable effort has been devoted to the development of phase-locked injection laser arrays,^(1-3) unstable resonator semiconductor laser;⁽⁴⁾ gain tailored broad area lasers,⁽⁵⁾ phase-locked controlled filament lasers⁽⁶⁾ and even the simplest broad area laser has been revisited⁽⁷⁾ Hereafter we will refer generally to all the above mentioned and similar laser geometries as broad-area-configurations (BAC).
