Abstract

Liquid crystals are frequently used as active holographic elements for beam deflection applications. Thanks to their small response time, ferroelectric liquid crystals are mostly studied for telecom applications. However, for routing applications, the reconfiguration rate is not a key parameter, on the other hand, nematic liquid crystals make it possible to produce phase ramps and therefore high efficiencies.
