Taper topography control of instabilities and rogue waves in supercontinuum fibers

Abstract

Longitudinal variation of dispersion and nonlinearity in tapered photonic crystal fiber dramatically improves the noise characteristics of supercontinuum generation. Experimental results are interpreted in terms of modified rogue wave dynamics.
