Abstract

Monolithic preforms of high-purity TeO2-WO3-La2O3-(Bi2O3) glasses were produced. Absorption of hydroxyl groups was down to n×0.001 cm−1 at ~3 μm in both core and cladding. Optical fibers with loss less than 0.5 dB/m at region of 1.2–2.8 μm were made from them.
