Modal Analysis in Fused-Type Mode-Selective Fiber Couplers

Abstract

LP11-type mode-selective couplers are fabricated by well-defined etching and pretapering. Coupler characteristics are reproduced by simulations and the impact of coupler geometry on the modal weight of the excited modes is analyzed by modal decomposition.
