Massive Enhancement of Scatter in UV Exposed Optical Fibers

Abstract

We demonstrate an enhancement of up to 40 dB in the optical scatter in 213nm wavelength UV-exposed optical fibers, allowing high-resolution shape, temperature and strain sensing.
