Germanium-on-insulator Pedestal Waveguide for Midinfrared Sensing Applications

Abstract

The propagation loss of the fundamental TM mode is reduced significantly by 59% on pedestal waveguides fabricated on GOI platform. The sensitivity of the waveguides is 0.25% for acetic acid, based on evanescent field sensing.
