Mode area scaling with ultra-high NA using M-type fibre for efficient high-power lasers around 2 µm

Abstract

We numerically investigated LP02 mode in M-type fibres for mode-area scaling. A comparison with step-index fibres ensures up to 56% increment in mode-area with effective single mode operation for ultra-high NAs (~0.30) M-type fibres.
