Alamouti Code against PDL in Polarization Multiplexed Systems

Abstract

We theoretically and experimentally investigate the performance of the Alamouti polarization-time code to mitigate PDL. We show that due to the orthogonal structure of its codewords, it can entirely compensate PDL.
