Outage Probability derivations for PDL-disturbed Coherent Optical Communication

Abstract

We derive in closed-form the outage probability for different statistical models of PDL and evaluate their accuracy. From the resulting expressions, we quantify its impact on optical transmissions as an SNR penalty.
