Automated Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy setup for chemical mapping of archaeological shells

Abstract

A Laser-induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) setup for the measurement of the magnesium to calcium ratios along the growth lines of sea snails shells is presented. It allows an automatic measurement over the shell’s surface without sample preparation.
