High Capacity Optical Transmission with Nyquist Subcarrier Modulation and Direct Detection

Abstract

We review the principle of direct detection optical communication with Nyquist half-cycle Subcarrier Modulation. 8×125Gb/s Nyquist 32-QAM WDM transmission over 80km SSMF is shown with a net spectral efficiency of 2.54bit/s/Hz for single polarization.
