Substantial Capacity Increase via Optimized Power/Bit Allocation in Spatially Multiplexed Power-Limited Submarine Systems

Abstract

We show how to optimize the channel bit/power allocation in submarine systems under an electrical power constraint. Our design strategy increases the theoretical link capacity by up to 70% compared to a recently proposed system.
