Abstract

A working group of the International Standards Organization Technical Committee for Optics and Optical Instruments has been preparing a standard for the specification, measurement and test of optical coatings. The new standard could supersede the variety of US military, ANSI, DIN and other specifications now used. The work has progressed to the point where it shortly will be circulated for comment by interested parties. The purpose of this paper is to inform those involved in the use and manufacture of optical coatings of the existence of this draft standard and to encourage comment on its form and content.
