Reversible Multiphoton Ionization of Gases Observed by a Femtosecond Pump/Probe Schlieren Imaging Technique

Abstract

Using femtosecond time-resolved Schlieren imaging, we observe a light-induced reversible plasma-like change of the refractive index of a gas during optical irradiation by 80 fs pulses.
