Two-Color Harmonic Generation in the Rare Gases

Abstract

We observe very high-order sum and difference-frequency components when 1053 and 526 nm fields are mixed in a high density gas. We describe how the relative intensity and polarization of this XUV light is affected by the relative polarization of the input fields. Even harmonics are produced due to the breaking of radial symmetry in the atom by the additional field.
