Modal Decomposition in Asymmetric Wavelength-Selective Fused Fiber Couplers

Abstract

The coupling mechanism in asymmetric fused fiber couplers is investigated by tuning the pretaper length. A numerical modal decomposition is performed to analyze the impact of pretapering on the modal weight of the excited super-modes.
