Abstract

We report on recent advances in femtosecond single beam direct writing of both linear and nonlinear optical properties in different silver-containing phosphate or germanate oxide glassy matrices. By means of correlative microscopy (micro-absorption, micro-fluorescence and microsecond harmonic generation), we investigate the spatial distribution of each property, their stability and the correlation between them. In particular, we detail the single-beam direct laser poling, which leads to the remarkable electric field induced second harmonic generation. These locally-generated properties could further provide a relevant approach for the design of future nonlinear photonics structures.
