Optical Waveguide-based Single-molecule Studies in Diagnostics and Drug Screening

Abstract

Single binding events between membrane-protein receptors and their ligands in near-natural environments are presented, and the advantage offered by single-molecule sensitivity is discussed in the context of mechanistic biophysical studies, medical diagnostics and drug discovery.
