A comparison of S-shaped and U-shaped optical fiber sensors

Abstract

Novel S-shaped optical fiber geometry is explored and its sensing potential is compared with U-bend geometry. Evanescent wave absorbance and refractive index sensitivity of S-bend were found to be 1.8-fold and 1.5-fold than U-bend.
