Abstract

We report the first demonstration of 32 distributed-feedback fiber lasers multiplexed on a single fiber. The fiber lasers, fabricated to a design developed specifically for sensor array applications, have wavelengths corresponding to 32 adjacent channels of the 100GHz C-band ITU grid. We show that the excess low frequency noise evident in some of the fiber lasers is due to external feedback caused by Rayleigh backscatter.
