Integrated Optical Directional Coupler based Refractive Index Sensor

Abstract

We present a highly sensitive and narrow bandwidth refractive index sensor, based on an integrated silicon-on-silica strip waveguide directional coupler. The optimization of geometric parameters have been presented to achieve a sensitivity of 367 μm/RIU.
