Intersubband Relaxation and Population Inversion in Stepped Quantum Wells

Abstract

We have investigated intersubband relaxation rates in a nove1 stepped quantum well structure using femtosecond differential transmission spectroscopy, and have observed a population inversion between levels separated by only 7 THz.
