Abstract

Recently, the travelling wave Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE) has shown to be a promising method for ultrashort light pulse generation. Zs. Bor(1), S. Szatmari and F.P. Schafer(2) had obtained a 6.1ps ASE pulse with a 12ps pumping pulse in a transversal travelling wave pumping scheme. In a slightly different scheme in which a gradient distribution of pumping energy was introduced, Lee Wenchong et al (3) had got a 50ps ASE pulse using a nitrogen laser (700ps) as the pumping source. Recently, using a mode-locked Nd:YAG laser (46ps) in the same scheme, we have obtained 8-15ps ASE pulses output.
