Abstract

We have observed gyroscopic response without dead band of a fs ring dye laser. The two outputs corresponding to the counterpropagating pulse trains were made to interfere on a photodiode (which required accurate timing in order to have the two train of pulses coincident on the detector). The envelope of the interfering pulse trains showed a beat note of frequency Δν = a + 31.170Ω. where Ω is the rotation rate of the table in 0/s. The small bias note a has been reduced to zero accurate cavity adjustment.
