Abstract

Alight pulse is usually characterized by either temporal (auto- and cross-correlations) or spectral measurements. These measurements, however, provide only partial information about the actual shape of the pulse. We propose a method for a rigorously exact determination of the pulse amplitude and phase based on a new representation of ultrashort pulses.
