Abstract

Advances in ultrafast laser pulse shaping technology will expand capabilities for quantum molecular control and high speed optical communications networks. Here we report a dramatic increase in pulse shaping resolution using a large aperture acoustooptic modulator[1]. We also present recent results with shaped pulse amplification and two applications–quantum control by steering wavepackets with frequency swept pulses, and an architecture for terabit/sec optical communications.
