Abstract

We present a nonlinear optical technique to measure the absolute carrier phase of a sub-ten- femtosecond visible pulse. We compare our experimental results with our numerical model, which reveals that the interference of 2nd and 3rd harmonics of a 4.5 fs pulse is sensitive to the absolute phase.
