Studies of third and fifth order non-linear susceptibilities of optical materials using femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy

Abstract

The real and imaginary parts of the third order non-linear susceptibility of various glasses and liquids are determined using femtosecond transient absorption pump- probe spectroscopy. Some evidence for interference with the fifth order contribution is obtained.
