Highly Energetic Excitons in GaAs Studied via Femtosecond Transmission Spectroscopy

Abstract

The first optical investigation of excitons with large wave vectors is presented, based on violated momentum conservation at interfaces. We study the ultrafast dynamics of these “dark” excitations via scattering with free carriers and phonons.
