The control of optical damage threshold by the chirp of ultraviolet femtosecond pulses

Abstract

The damage process of the aluminum coating for the ultraviolet-femtosecond pulses is investigated. It is found that the damage threshold becomes lower for the positively-chirped pulse irradiation case even the pulse duration becomes longer.
