Excitation and propagation of surface plasmon polaritons on metallic periodic structures

Abstract

Surface plasmon polaritons are excited on a periodic structure of metallic cylinders with ultrashort THz pulses. Propagation and damping of the surface plasmons as well as reemitted THz radiation is investigated experimentally.
