Generation of rotational Raman emissions and self-compressed femtosecond pulses in a hydrogen gas

Abstract

We observed the characteristics of a femtosecond laser pulse after passing the beam through a hydrogen gas. The pulse compression accompanied by Stokes emissions implies the coherently spectral broadening based on a Raman rotational coherence.
