Amplitude Collapse and Revival of Chirped Coherent Phonon under High-fluence Optical Excitation

Abstract

Collapse and revival on picosecond timescale is observed for the chirped coherent A1g phonon of bismuth under intense photo-excitation at 10K. This phenomenon has no classical analogue and is explained by the quantum interference of wavepackets in anharmonic potential.
