Ultrafast vibrational dynamics of rotaxanes

Abstract

A rotaxane system, consisting of a macrocycle attached to a thread by hydrogen bonds, has been studied by 2D-vibrational spectroscopy. The results suggest backfolding of the thread towards the macrocycle, and reveal conformational flexibility.
