Abstract
We report that stimulated Brillouin scattering in a dispersion-decreasing fiber plays a very important role in ultrahigh-speed femtosecond soliton compression that exceeds 40-GHz. A stable 40-GHz, 100-fs pulse train was successfully generated by suppressing SBS.
