Ultrafast Dynamics of Phosphate-Water Interactions in Hydrated DNA

Abstract

Interactions between DNA and the surrounding water shell are mapped via the ultrafast response of the asymmetric phosphate stretching vibration νAS (PO2). The water shell serves as the primary heat sink for excess energy.
