Ultrafast coupled electronic and lattice dynamics in exciton self-trapping: Correlation of the localization length and acoustic phonon dynamics

Abstract

We probe the dynamics of exciton self-trapping using femtosecond impulsive excitation techniques. We find a low frequency oscillatory response consistent with coherent acoustic phonon generation, with an acoustic wavelength that scales with exciton localization length.
