Preferential Solvation of a Rhenium Photocatalyst Facilitates Ultrafast Intermolecular Electron Transfer

Abstract

Equilibrium 2D IR spectroscopy was used to measure spectral diffusion of the photo-catalyst Re(bpy)(CO)3Cl in multiple TEOA/solvent mixtures. The spectral diffusion was slowest at the 20%/80% TEOA/solvent (v/v) ratio, indicating occurrence of preferential solvation.
