Abstract

We investigate the relaxation dynamics of multi-electronic states in benzene cations produced by ultrashort (<7 fs) XUV pulses. Non-adiabatic decay within approximately 20 fs is observed, which corresponds to a characteristic timescale for excited cationic states in benzene.
