Abstract

We measure the perturbatively excited symmetric breathing mode vibration A1g in SF6 via time-resolved x-ray absorption spectroscopy. Vibrational amplitudes of 50 fm were resolved. An ab-initio simulation confirms the results and reveals additional electronic coupling.
