Abstract

We have previously shown that the effect of a glare source on the detection of simple discs of light depends strongly on the temporal relations between the glare and test sources: thresholds are much higher immediately after the onset of glare and decline to a steady light-adapted level (Figure 1). In addition, these effects are greater when the detection stimulus is in the periphery rather than the fovea (Bichao, Yager, and Meng, 1995; Bichao, Meng, and Yager, 1995).
