A Telescopic Bifocal for Low Vision

Abstract

A series of new telescopic bifocals have been designed and produced as part of a spectacle lens. These units provide longer working distances than conventional bifocals of the same equivalent power while incorporating many advantages over current low vision telescopes. Since the telescopes are integral with the spectacle lens, these units are easily aligned for binocular viewing with the patient’s spectacle prescription (Rx) placed on the back surface in a manner similar to conventional bifocals.
