A Mathematical Model of a Placido Disk Keratometer and its Implications for Recovery of Corneal Topography

Abstract

We derive and obtain approximate solutions to the equations for a placido disk keratometer relating the ring targets to their images. In addition, we present corneal surfaces that cannot be determined solely by the use of placido ring images, but rather that require for their determination radial elements in the target pattern.
