Integratable Polarization and Temperature Compensators for WDM Planar Waveguide Demultiplexers

A novel technique for monolithically integrating polarization and temperature compensators in planar waveguide demultiplexers is proposed and demonstrated. They are simple to fabricate, have many advantages over previously reported compensation schemes, and are effective in both etched diffraction grating and arrayed waveguide grating based devices.
