Abstract

The present fiber can guide light in an air core with a simplified microstructure composed of extremely thin silica walls. We demonstrate a Fabry-Perot pressure sensor with this fiber and the measured pressure sensitivity is −17.3 pm/MPa. The sensitivity can be enhanced by reducing the thickness of the outer silica cladding.
