Design of Fundamental Mode Filter based on Long-Period Grating Fiber

Abstract

A long-period fiber grating(LPFG) that can selectively filter the fundamental mode in few-mode optical fiber is proposed. By applying a appropriate chosen surrounding material and an apodized configuration, high fundamental mode loss can be achieved.
