Abstract
We propose the use of ultrasmall semiconductor quantum dots (USQDs) for specialized bio-imaging applications, and discuss methods for enhancing fluorescent signals from USQDs to be used for two-photon-absorption based deep tissue imaging. In particular, we report optimizing the excitation wavelength for two-photon absorption-induced fluorescence (TPAF) in SQDs and demonstrate a 68-fold enhancement in the fluorescence signal when the TPAF excitation wavelength is changed from .
